I am positive that at some point in everyone’s life they come to a place where they think, “I cannot let another day pass without doing what I know I should be doing”…
For some, it propels them to do amazing things and move forward; for others they find excuses and continue to live their day-to-day. Perhaps neither is right or wrong… but for me, there is nothing more satisfying than feeling your heart sink into the understanding that you are right where you need to be.
For years I have had the vision of starting a coffee house and from the profits of that coffee house beginning a non-profit organization that does community outreach and global missions work. For that same amount of years I have made excuses as to why this couldn’t happen… why there will be another delay… because I’m too young, don’t have enough money, or I’m not smart enough. There was always something. Until one day the unsettling became too strong. I needed to do something… I couldn’t let another day pass.
My question to God was, “How are you going to pay for this?” He responded with, “You let me worry about that, you just do what I tell you to do.” Then He began to reveal to me the steps I could take now… the ones that don’t require a ton of money… he started giving me creative ideas on how this crazy thing was all going to work and totally flipped the script on what I thought it was all going to look like.
Several months ago I was talking to my roommate and spoke very casually about wanting to have more so I could give more. I said, “I want to be a funnel. I want to be someone that God pours into so that I can give it to other people”. I’ve never desired to be rich with money just so I could say that I am rich. I desire to be rich in life, in friends, in family, in love…and having a little money helps too! But, not because I want to have those things and keep them all to myself. I desire to have a rich life so that I can share those things with everyone around me.
As the week progressed I couldn’t shake the phrase, “I want to be a funnel”. I just kept repeating it to myself over and over again. Then it hit me! I’ll start an organization called The Funnel Project and I will gather resources from the community to give back to the community in a local and global capacity.
Everyone has something to give.
Perhaps you have some time you can share.
Maybe you have been blessed with finances.
Some are gifted carpenters or craftsmen.
Others have talents that need to be shared.
We are all rich in some capacity. What The Funnel Project does is, it collects those resources and channels them into the areas that need them the most in that season.
It’s community helping community.
1 Peter 4:7-11 (message version) says: “Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything.”
Be generous with what God has given you. Whatever that looks like, share it!
We are looking for partners…
Please be a part of something greater and don’t let another day pass you by!
